Dear De Lorenzo Dachshunds of California... we just lost our wonderful long haired English red dachshund with creme & fringes of black highlights a few weeks back. We rescued her at five years old from a home breeder that was broken up by authorities. She was constantly pregnant, lost four teeth due to low calcium levels, had a damaged pancreas, and the early beginnings of congestive heart failure. My wife & I are in our early seventies and had the ideal property and home for her to be our only pet. She knew she was saved (and we with her), her paws on grass for the first time having only been caged. We took immaculate care of her and great love bonding with this angel until 16+ years of age ... succumbing ultimately to kidney failure due to her required heart medications. Chelsea outlived all predictions by her long term veterinarian and her cardiologist. She has left an unbelievable hole in our hearts ( I want to come back in the next life as one of my wife's pets!!! & her unbelievably extensive care). My wife is successfully fighting the aftermath of going through breast cancer over the past year .. and I'm convinced Chelsea held on to see her recover from it all a-ok (she knew my wife so needed her) !
I typed in a few search words to possibly find a LH dachshund to repair our hearts and a site provided your name as one of the top four breeders in California. Call it fate .. I hope you are as real as the words written about you. I believe you are within reach for us in Thousand Oaks, CA. There's no dog who could ever find a better home than ours, just like Chelsea did.
Please contact us if you have a puppy or an adult dog that can mend our hearts and become the luckiest dog ever! If you can't help us, please simply let us know, as we're still pretty fragile in even talking about it. Chelsea hardly barked, was my wife's shadow, slept in my bed so I could take her out every two hours during the most trying times of her declining health (she never had an accident). We have a large property double gated for a dog. Neighbor girls would come over and have tea parties with her and dress her up .. Chelsea was so calm, even with friends for dinners. Sorry for such a long note, but wanted you to mentally understand the ideal situation for the ideal dachshund should something work out in any way.

PS; Chelsea was 10+ pounds of love who went everywhere with us ... drives, walks, vacations, stores, mountains, ocean etc etc. She played during the days with us .. mostly sleeping towards the end, and curled up next to us to watch TV in the evenings. We luckily stumbled into having Chelsea as the daughter we never had. I'm sure this isn't the most proper way to approach you regarding whether you have an angel to help us breathe again. I've got to stop writing so I can send this to you ... and then hope and pray for another miracle !!!

That is a very hard process and I hope you’re doing ok. Sounds like she was so loved and was able to love back in return.
I’m so thankful you found me and I am truly blessed to hear that I am found as one of the top breeders in California. I don’t really pay much attention to that stuff because it’s just what I do, but it’s still fun hearing.
Our reservations are pretty full but we are willing to take families that are not in a hurry to adopt. As far as our current available adoptions, I am reviewing families for Athena’s adoption this November/December. She has had three litters of puppies and will be spayed once she is done nursing. I have a very strict process for my mama’s. And it’s to Never!!! And I mean Never!!!! Over breed them. Makes me so sad to hear about what Chelsea must have gone through before you saved her.
On that note, Athena is in perfect health and will have a Physical before adoption to her forever loving home.
If you would like to be considered for Athena’s adoption, please fill out our questionnaire as soon as possible. I have a very good feeling about this connection but I need to make sure it is the right match for everyone. Our questionnaire is more geared towards a puppy adoption, but all of our puppies are already reserved at this time. Also, our adoption fees are the same for puppies and adults. Hello again Becky ... whew what an emotional roller coaster of a night & day it has been. You were so wonderful in your understanding of our plight, and we won't forget it ever!
All our lives we have been the giving end of most things. We have been very fortunate in our forty year marriage, childless due to a military injury but blessed with many friends and happy in our retirement. The loss of Chelsea broke us into pieces, and we were the ones who needed help. Yours and other's heartwarming outreach to my email has restored our belief that there are really good people in this world :)
Similar to your generosity another breeder was deciding to retire an angel earlier this week, and when they saw my email they reached out hardly five minutes after I sent mine. After talking with both owners, they decided to drive to our home in Thousand Oaks from San Diego to be sure our home was as we said and bring a most beautiful 5 year old cream dapple (three litters like Athena). She's very shy and will take our undivided attention to immerse her into a very pampered world for the remainder of her life. We were very anxious over the entire scenario not believing our fortunate outcome. I couldn't just say no to your consideration of us until we could see that things would really work out.
I'm very humbled and pleased to say it looks like everything is a small miracle for us given our situation. Many tears of joy and gratitude to the breeder couple. They certainly felt their angel will have an incredible forever home and supportive parents. We are so very happy, and taking each step slowly and with sensitivity in launching a wonderful rest of her life :)
Although we didn't get to meet you an enjoy the experience of getting a dog through you ... you will forever experience word of mouth support from us regarding your reputation and kindness as a breeder.

My boyfriend and I started looking into getting a new Doxie puppy starting back of February of this year. I Google searched for breeders within Southern California and Beckys website was one of the first to come up. I looked at her website and had such a great feeling about her but also leaving our options open. Everyday I would find myself if not once but twice going back to her website.
Not long after, we filled out our "Puppy Questionaire" form and within hours Becky responded to my email and asked to speak with me over the phone. From the minute I spoke with her I knew this was her passion and she loved her Doxies as part of her family. As soon as we got off the phone I knew I was making the right decision choosing her as our breeder.
Once on the reserved list Becky was very thorough and kept us in the loop from the moment she knew her females were pregnant, to the birth of each puppy. Her communication was nothing short of excellent. The effort, time and love she puts into her communication with each family is very present in each text, email and phone call.
We have now had our Zoey Girl for about a month now and STILL Becky is very much part of her life. Going to pick up Zoey I felt as if we have known Becky for years. No matter how small or big the question she always responded quickly with an answer.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get this to you, been so busy. Rudy and I are doing great and I am immensely grateful!
Review:
I am delighted with my new pup Rudy. From the get-go, my interactions with Becky were easy and she was very responsive to questions, very knowledgeable about her dogs, and conscientious. I traveled out to California to pick up my pup and found the situation completely consistent with what I expected to see.
The pups, including my guy, were a part of her family, having been socialized from the start. In fact, my 8 week old puppy was already potty trained on pads, sweet and curious and very comfortable being handled. I had to put my pup on a plane under the seat in front of me to get him home to Colorado. I expected a two-hour flight of whining and crying, but heard not a peep. He did not seem to be scared or upset.
I have continued with the NuVet supplements, and Canidae food, as recommended by Becky. Rudy loves the supplements, and at 11 weeks is healthy as can be. He is frisky as a pup should be and loving and sweet which I attribute to the socialization he received in the early weeks.
I cannot thank Becky and her family enough for their work bringing such a great creature into my life, as she has done for others. If you are considering a doxie pup, Becky's dogs are a great choice. I may even come back to her for a friend or sibling for Rudy in the future! Rudy is such an amazing addition to my life - I adore him.

I traveled out to California to pick up my pup and found the situation completely consistent with what I expected to see.
The pups, including my guy, were a part of her family, having been socialized from the start. In fact, my 8 week old puppy was already potty trained on pads, sweet and curious and very comfortable being handled. I had to put my pup on a plane under the seat in front of me to get him home to Colorado. I expected a two-hour flight of whining and crying, but heard not a peep. He did not seem to be scared or upset.
I have continued with the NuVet supplements, and Canidae food, as recommended by Becky. Rudy loves the supplements, and at 11 weeks is healthy as can be. He is frisky as a pup should be and loving and sweet which I attribute to the socialization he received in the early weeks.
I cannot thank Becky and her family enough for their work bringing such a great creature into my life, as she has done for others. If you are considering a doxie pup, Becky's dogs are a great choice. I may even come back to her for a friend or sibling for Rudy in the future! Rudy is such an amazing addition to my life - I adore him.

I found Delorenzo Dachsund through a google search. I browsed your website and the Facebook page and was very impressed. What swoon me over was how much Becky cared about her puppies and finding the right home for them. I can't tell you how lucky I feel to have found her. I can't tell you how beautiful the whole process was from the minute Alley gave birth and watching those beautiful puppy grow until the day you meet the one that you chose to take home. ENZO "Elvis" Parents are Ember and Phantom
"On our honeymoon my husband asked me if we could get a puppy....."
My review, as promised (sorry for the delay):
"On our honeymoon my husband asked me if we could get a puppy when we got home. I told him my only condition on getting a puppy was that we got two…since we both have busy careers, I didn’t want our puppies to ever be lonely or sad. We got home from our honeymoon late on a Wednesday night and by 10am Thursday morning I had done some research and reached out to De Lorenzo Dachshunds. Becky was quick to respond to me and setup up an interview to find out if we were an appropriate family for two of her darling doxies. After reaching out to multiple dachshund breeders, Becky was one of the only breeders that conducted an interview–from the first time I spoke with Becky I could tell how much she cared about every De Lorenzo puppy.
We now have Luigi “Lou” and Capone “Cappy”. They have the same dad, different moms, and are about two months apart in age. Luigi, our male, was one of seven pups born in his litter. He was teeny tiny, and had not been reserved due to Becky not expecting seven pups to be born. After my interview with Becky she asked if I wanted to come see him. Although I didn’t feel pressured by the situation, I was very nervous because I wanted to make sure he liked me and it was the right fit. Becky assured me that there was no pressure (she was actually laughing because she knew how sweet our baby boy was). Luigi is the most cuddly, sweetheart, lovebug ever. I met him, he crawled right into the vest I was wearing, snuggled in and took a nap. That was it. He was ours.
Capone is a different story–little lady is a wild pup/free-spirit in the best way possible. Since we got Luigi we were anxious to work with Becky again for our little girl pup. We specifically wanted a longhaired girl, but that was slightly a long-shot because Ember, her mom, only had 4 pups in her litter. Well, it was meant to be because our little lady’s fur grew and after 6 weeks we knew we were getting another puppy. Cappy is the most vibrant, independent, adventurous little one. Loving and sweet in her own way–like fully taking over my pillow in the morning, practically suffocating me to get cuddled. She is a hilarious little sister to Lou, beating him up constantly, and our rough-and-tumble, gorgeous little girl.
Becky made this process so wonderful. She was in touch with us frequently during the gestation period and sent us weekly updates during our pups first 8 weeks of life (we sent all the amazing puppy photos to friends and family, getting everyone excited about the littles we were getting). Since our pups came home with us, we have stayed in touch with Becky–calling her about silly puppy issues, she always answers our calls and texts, giving us wonderful advice. Now, I feel like we are part of a bigger dachshund family–we get to see what Lou and Cappy’s littermates and older brothers and sisters are up to via social media. We are so grateful that Becky chose us to be Lou and Cappy’s parents. There isn’t much else to say except that our puppies are happy, healthy, and the best pups ever. Thank you, Becky!"

I found DeLorenzo Dachshunds through a google search. As soon as the listing came up I began exploring the website and enjoying all of the beautiful pictures of the previous litters. Overall, the website presentation had me very impressed and when I realized how close they were to me and that they had a litter due soon, I decided to reach out to Becky. Right as soon as I emailed and expressed interest, Becky got back to me the next day via phone call. Instantly I could tell how dedicated she was to her puppies. She wanted to know if I had had dachshunds before and what I was looking for, but the conversation did not stop at business; she asked about my other dogs and showed interest in the previous dachshund we had before.Right away I could tell that she was very personable and sincere. I was informed that she would put me on a waiting list and contact me when the puppies were born to let me know if there was a chance I could get a black and tan smooth coat. Becky kept me updated throughout the pregnancy and sent text updates with pictures! As soon as the puppies were born she snapped pictures and allowed me to pick which one I wanted. Once we decided on "Cupid", now Reese, she kept us informed every couple of days; pictures, text messages, and even a scheduled visit at 6 1/2 weeks. Becky makes sure that all of her puppies are well taken care of and given vitamins in utero, you can totally tell the difference. When we took Reese to the vet for the first time they complimented her on her pretty coat right away. She was kept so clean and well nourished, all of her first round of shots were taken care of and we received her AKC papers; even got homemade toys to take home to remind her of her litter mates. In addition, she made sure to work with our schedules and allowed us to pick a time of day and a date that worked for us for pickup. Overall, my experience with DeLorenzo Dachshunds was WONDERFUL! I recommend them to ANYONE looking for the puppy of their dreams. Not only does she care where her puppies are going, but she cares about keeping in touch and making sure you are well informed throughout the whole process. She assured us at the pick-up that she would always be available for questions and she has completely. We love Reese and have had a smooth transition with her coming home. I cannot thank Becky enough and my experience was so wonderful, she will for sure receive picture updates as Reese grows. We will always consider DeLorenzo Dachshunds a part of the family and we thank them so much!!

I can't even explain how happy we are with our little girl Lola. She is such a healthy, happy puppy. Becky made this entire experience a smooth one. We found her through a google search. We browsed her website and some of the past litters. I was comfortable reaching out to Becky knowing that our puppy would be coming from a loving family who truly cared about where her puppies were going to end up. She sent us pictures of the puppies being born and then once a week after that. She also sent me videos of her kids playing with the puppies. She did SO much more above & beyond what you would expect her to do. We live about 5 hours away from where they are located. We weren't able to see her until pickup day. When she got home she wasn't shy or scared, she was ready to run and play! Our vet went on and on about how great Lola looked. I would absolutely recommend De Lorenzo Dachshunds to anyone looking for a dachshund puppy! :)
